We recommend a visit to La Cité, Carcassonne, plenty of places to eat. The market at Mirepoix on Monday is great, the town is lovely. If feeling energetic hire bikes at Port de Bram and cycle along the Canal du Midi, it is shaded by the trees + is a lovely ride and flat!! It is advisable to book in advance (they speak english). We recommend Le Rotonde in Carcassonne, near the Canal du Midi for a good meal, try the ostrich. The restaurant of the Hotel d’Arcade at Limoux, off the main square is also worth a visit. We had a great time

Our second time here and a fantastic holiday yet again. Beate, Francis + George are great hosts and the place is so well kept. It remains one of the best appointed places we have stayed at in many years of coming to France.

There is so much to do around here. Our best bits:

  • Chateau de Montsegur — not for the faint hearted!
  • Gorges de Calamus - canyoning or just walking the gorge; either way a great visit.
  • Abbay de Fontfroide — been a few times, but this time walked up the hill to the cross. A spectacular view awaits.
  • Gruissan Plage (nr Narbonne). A really nice beach for children with shallow water for a good way out. Just watch out for Jelly Fish!

Or just staying here and having a glass by the pool is highly recommended!! Thanks again Beate, Francis & George.

Thank you very much for an amazing holiday. You have such a beautiful home. The children have loved playing in your garden trying lots of new sports (archery and boules), swimming in the pool and playing hide and seek. Beate and Francis were fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome.

As others have said the barn is very well located. Some of the places we have visited

  • Franqui and Gruissan Plage - both ideal for children.
  • Mirepoix - Market had lots of lovely stalls.
  • Chateau de Montsegur - is quite a climb to the top but well worth it for the views.

We will recommend to our friends and family and hope to visit again in the future.

Thank you
